Efficiently Natural
United States
Приєднався 12 січ 2016
After having relaxed hair for the majority of my life, I took the plunge and went natural by transitioning in 2009. After struggling with two textures, endlessly rocking protective styles, and slowly trimming my relaxed ends for years, I became FULLY natural at waist to tailbone length in 2015! Since then, I must be honest - the natural hair "lifestyle" has been a challenge for me. From cowashing, prepooing, washing, detangling, conditioning, and any host of other complicated methods, it all just felt like too much. Furthermore, as a physician initially juggling medical school, residency, and now fellowship, I simply do not have time to devote countless hours to caring for and styling my hair. So, I created this channel originally as a way to document my journey of devising faster, easier, and more efficient methods for managing my natural hair. I know I still don't have it all figured out, but my mission is simple. Welcome to my channel!

Straight Natural Hair Routine - 6 Weeks of Maintenance after Flat Ironing
Thank you, im trying to help a young teenager. Your video is very helpful in considering her feelings and encouraging to also help her love her hair.
Thank you
Well explained thank you!
Congratulations My Beautiful Sister, I thank you for sharing your journey.❤ much love, May The Most High Bless you and yours.❤❤❤❤
I braid first then twist. Depending on how I feel I'll turn the braid into 3 strand twists. Mind you , the twists shrink more. So loosely twist. When wet. Because they tighten , if you have fine baby hair it will break if you twist tight . If you decide to put the hair in a twisted bun don't pull and twist to tight towards the ends , fine hair will break. And you will have thinning. I am learning and it happened to me and I'm trying to recover. Braids , plats work for me as well but time and age prevents my hands from functioning the same .
This is very inspiring!❤I'm in my first year of dental school and always wanted to be a younger mom. This advice has been super helpful since I hope to have kids during dental school/residency.
Fabulous!
Gosh where have you disappeared to ??? Missing your videos.. I am here rewatching past videos... Pleaae put up at least some youtube shorts ☺️
Would you ever do another video on natural hairstyles for professional headshots? Please consider, there’s not many videos for it with natural 4c
They say not to use oil on your hair while using the revair... And that's your sister's drier. I'd be annoyed if someone did that to mine 😂
She put the oil on her hair after she did each section. Well, that's what I saw. 😁
Hey, checking in again, i pray you are well. Missing your vids. Hurry back.
I've locked since I first watched this video. Rewatching bc I *still* have this issue with my 14 month locs. Obviously, I can't redo my twists to minimize webbing at the root, but still nice to re-watch your video. On my surgical rotation. On my way to being you one day! Hope all is well.
how long did each section take?
Yall my hair grows at the same rate as hers IT TAKES YEARS TO GET TO THIS LENGTH you need DEDICATION not deep conditioner
What do you suggest for keeping short hair straight?
Came across this video in my search for answers to help my wildness that grows on the nape of my neck. I've never heard of the kitchen reference but I come from a Mexican background. My hair grows along the two sides of my neck, similar to yours. It was helpful to see how you groom your hair. It's kind of nice to see others go through this as well. I've always felt I'm the only one out there with this mess. I may just have to give in to the idea of having to keep it groomed if I want. I did try waxing once. Ouch! And I've even used my epilator on that area. OOOOOOUUUUUCH! LOL it works though lol thanks for the tips! ❤
Thank you for your videos. You come across so sincere and give such genuine practical tips and advice
Hey gurl
I love this method! And here I wanted to pay 400 for a rev air!
Beautiful hair, I’ll just use rubber bands and oil
Very informative video. I never used to remove shed hair before washing my twists now I know that is one caused of me getting tangles. I don’t stretch my hair before twisting either, maybe I should incorporate that.
Thanks for the video, i am on my 30th and was afraid to start a surgical residency, you give me the courage ❤❤❤.
This was amazing, thanks. New subscriber ❤
This made me tear up!!! I have a nine month old who I had during my intern year of my current internal medicine residency. It was so heartwarming to hear your experiences. I relate a ton to the struggles with sleep and pumpimg at work and the night shifts with a newborn at home. Thank you for sharing your story. I love hearing physicians talk about how they are prioritizing their families! Thank you!
Your hair is beautiful and healthy. We miss you two. Hope all is well ➿➿➿➿➿➿➿🙂.
I’m a white woman, and I’ve never heard the hair at the nape of the neck called a kitchen. I think it’s cute. I’ve only ever heard it called a low neck hairline. Mine is very low, and it feels unattractive. I’ve shaved it a couple times, but I don’t like it when it starts to grow back and develops trouble like ingrown hairs. I also hate the way it looks when I decide to let it grow back in. I’ve seen some videos of people waxing the area. Thank you for making this video. My hair couldn’t be more different from yours, but I think the technique you’ve shown here might help me too.
This is exactly the video I've been looking for! Haven't really found any other videos by 4c Naturals addressing the specific problem of matting when washing hair in small twists. Thank you so much ❤
My face when you showed us the shrinkage! Your hair is so very healthy!
I was wondering why Jenifer Hudson suddenly has long natural Hair! 😂
Truth is not every growth technique is for everyone. I experienced so much growth during my wash and go years. Now that I mostly wear my hair in protective styles due to time restraints, my hair growth has slowed down tremendously.
What flat iron do you normally use?
I don't have kinkier hair and I don't know if I have a kitchen or not but, I'm quite annoyed with my neck hair and this tutorial helped me and helped me feel better about if its not perfect. You did a really good job on your hair and I think its very well styled. I shaved a lil of my neck hair because I couldn't wear it in a pony tail without complete frustration.
Thank you so much for being honest about how work and life can get in the way of taking care of your hair. Very vulnerable thing to share that i know most naturals have experienced to some degree even if they won't admit it. I love my hair, but some days, i can't even fulfill my basic needs with the time I have, so thank you for sharing that 💜
❤❤❤
Your husband and my brother in-law look like brothers! He is Igbo’s too.
Hello, thanks for the video! Do you still use this dryer? Have you experienced any breakage as a result of using it? I am thinking of getting this but wanted to get an idea of what the long term use does to your hair. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks
Thank you. This was a very clear explanation and enlightening for me. I have heard this statement in my classroom and I knew one student was “digging” another but I honestly did not know what the issue/dig was about. I am a causation women but I deal with nape hair that makes me uncomfortable because it is so out of control and have been embarrassed by my nape grooming at various stages in my life too.
You sped up the best bit!😮 I *want* to see you straightening your hair...
YESSSSSSSS, I have a very similar routine. I'm going to try and stretch mine to 6 weeks as opposed to my usual 4. I love alternating between oiling my scalp and using a cooling dry shampoo. Keeps it so fresh.
Luv this❤
Your hair is so beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've bking this but get irrational
The baby was honestly one of the best parts of the video…okay he was the best part. Your son adores you and the hair looks great
I been using the clothing steamer for two years, only. 20 dollars
How old were you guys when you started residency and then had a kid?:)
Had kid at 30/31. We were around 27/28 when we started residency
@@EfficientlyNatural If I'm 28 and just starting to apply to medical school, would you recommend having kids during med school?
Yes, in retrospect I wish I had had kids in medical school..so they would be a little older while I was having to deal with the demands of residency. We were long distance in medical school so that wasn’t really an option. I also think it’s harder to miss time due to kid-related issues while in residency..but likely easier to do so while in medical school (especially basic science years).
@@EfficientlyNatural Thank you for taking the time to reply :) I watched your whole video but because I'll be the an incoming student at the age that you were doing residency I thought you might have a different opinion regarding timelines. This clarifies though! thanks and good luck with everything:)
You guys are awesome ❤
I couldn't find a video and I understand this is 2 years ago, I couldn't find a video when you twist out, style it and so forth how does a person wash there head? like normal? will the curls stay? idk.. LOL
Wow, your hair is absolutely gorgeous! 😮
I have to saturate my hair with oils and butters to keep detangling easier.
How do u keep your scalp clean during the month of no washing? I’m new to this I’ve had mine in for two weeks now , my scalp is now dirty idk what I should do for maintenance. U shampoo once a month & do a couple retwisting in between but what do u do to keep it clean until wash day
